The duties of regional arts councils have been issued in the Promotion of the Arts Decree: 1105/91 3.CHAPTER 8§
Plan of action:
Vision The Arts Council of South Savo believes in the potential of the creative economy and acts so that arts will bring work and livelihood, build up and strengthen the local identity and add up to the inhabitants’ satisfaction and to the appeal of the region.
Mission statement The mission statement of the Arts Council of South Savo is to promote the inhabitants’ spiritual growth by bringing forth the significance of and access to art and everybody’s equal participation in arts as well as art’s impact in all decision-making. The council particularly supports the professional practice of arts and the local, regional and international interaction between the public and the artists. The basis of development is the unprejudiced cooperation of artists, colleges, art institutions and art companies in creating new operation models that the Arts Council promotes in its work in an interactive way. Thus the Arts Council takes use of its expertise in enhancing the various encounters that take place in arts. The South Savo of tomorrow will be known for its active arts life. The artistic work in the province is sustained and takes place all around the year. Art touches the local people of South Savo and visitors alike in various ways around the year. The province of South Savo will develop into a tolerant and dynamic province embracing diversity and various local identities. Strategic emphasis in the Arts Council level 2007-2009:
Professionalism, internationalism, tolerance and plurality of the arts life in South Savo The Arts Council of South Savo works to support the accessibility, development, diversity and national and international networking of the arts and culture in the region. The Arts Council takes an active part in the general arts and culture discourse and offers job opportunities to the professional artists in the region. The Arts Council supports the creation of a personal art experience in cooperation with various instances. Art belongs to everyone! Customers
We are working to help also amateur artists, social and health care, arts education and to prevent inequality and exclusion of young people. The projects take marginal groups into account: children, the elderly and the disabled people. The media bears an important role for the activities that take place to benefit arts. Partners
